Lost Art Collection:  Shorthand Art

Floral vine with rock

Acrylic on canvas, 16” x 8”

The shorthand symbol for Jesus is inserted as the primary rootstock for the plant. It parallels John 15 where Jesus describes himself as the vine:

John 15:5 (NKJV)

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

This painting is of a plant, growing along our patio. The rock belongs to us, as well, and is symbolic for the solid foundation upon which our faith is anchored in Jesus Christ. The evergreen and walking path was captured from my neighbor’s yard.

Clearly, the inspiration for this painting comes from John 3:16:

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
